Headpieces and Veils
.........................................
|
Your gown style and the
formality of your wedding should dictate the style of your bridal
headpiece. There are several headpiece styles to choose from with or
without veils: tiaras, hats, caps, headbands, bows, wreaths, fresh
or silk flowers, etc. It is generally best to choose a style that is
in proportion to your dress and has similar styling. For example, if
your gown is decorated with pearls, you may want to consider a
headpiece with pearls. However, rhinestone tiaras can compliment a
wide variety of wedding gowns.

Use the formality of the
wedding and the decoration on the back of your gown to provide
guidelines for length of the illusion (veiling). Many brides combine
a blusher (the layer that goes over your face) with a longer one for
both formal and semi-formal weddings. If your gown down not have a
train or has detailing at the waist that you want to show off, you
may want to use an elbow-length veil. A longer veil is the most
popular for formal and semi-formal weddings. If your gown as a long
train, the veil should extend one foot or more onto the train of the
dress.
A detachable veil
either on Velcro or on a separate comb is a great idea when using
a longer veil for the wedding ceremony. This enables you to use a
shorter veil or remove the veil completely from the headpiece for
the reception.
You will be on your feet
a significant amount of time so it is important that your shoes are
comfortable. You may want to wear them around the house before your
wedding day just to break them in. Any style is in these days
ranging from Isotoner Slippers, ballet slippers, flip-flops, tennis
shoes, sandals, pumps, platforms you name it. Many brides wear one
style for the wedding and another more comfortable style for the
reception. Basically, its your call.
