Choosing Bridal Gowns

In the many years that I have been in this business, there are basically only 3 tips that I would suggest to evvery bride when the day comes to try on wedding dresses.

1.  Please don't stress over the sizes. Bridal gowns run notoriously smaller than streetwear. Just start trying on all sizes. The bridal consultant will hold the dress or clip the dress as best as she can so you can have a good idea what the dress will look like.

It can be hard to envision, but if you limit yourself to only the size that fits you, you may miss THE perfect dress for you.

And above all.... enjoy this time!

2.  Limit your company. When you go shopping for your special bridal gown, it is tempting to bring the whole world with you for advice. However, it can be a mistake to bring more than one or two people.

Bring your maid of honor and/or your mother or someone else whose taste you admire and whose opinion you value. More than two people can turn a day at the bridal shop into an opinion-ridden nightmare.

You want to enjoy this experience!

3.  Most of all – have fun! Take pictures and put them in your pre-wedding day scrapbook. Purchasing your perfect wedding dress among the thousands of designer wedding gowns available should be an experience to remember – a pleasant one!

Fitting your Bridal Gown

Alterations are free if purchased at Arnella's Bridal actual store. When it is closer to the wedding, unless you are concerned about the size ordered, or if you feel you’ve gained or lost weight and need to be sure the dress can still be altered, your first fitting should be approximately four to six weeks prior to the wedding. After that, you could have two more fittings to make sure everything is perfect and to also put in a bustle. The last fitting usually includes instructions on how your gown will be bustled so be sure to bring someone with you to learn how. Please be sure to bring the actual shoes you are wearing and any undergarments you plan to wear.

Please contact Tammy, owner of Arnella's Bridal, for a convenient time to meet at 724.283.8850. I am available Monday through Saturday for appointments. Please check map and driving directions for the easiest route to arrive at Arnella's.
